Westham // Henrico County
Located off River Road just west of the University of Richmond, Westham's greatest strength is its combination of early 1900's architecture and Henrico County amenities.
Accessed via Westham Parkway, the neighborhood of Westham's 'just across the City line' location means proximity to best that both the City and Henrico have to offer in terms of shopping, schools and culture. Both the Huguenot and Willey bridges close by also allow for quick access both to and across the James River making Westham one of the most strategic locations in all of Richmond.
The period architecture generally employed the traditional materials of brick and slate to construct the designs of the era. Colonials and Cape Cod styled homes make up the majority of residences in Westham. However, there are a few homes interspersed that depart from the traditional designs of the period including several Tudors and the occasional Mid-Century Modern home built later in the neighborhood's life cycle.
The hilly and rolling terrain throughout Westham combined with a meandering street layout means a high degree of diversity in lot size and shape. These diverse lot layouts in terms of shape, size and slope creates a pleasing variance of relationships between not only the homes of Westham, but also to the lots upon which the homes were built.
